About Robert:
I started in photography
during high school with used B&W darkroom equipment and a
Kodak 35mm camera. Had a great time for several years taking,
developing and printing B&W pictures. (They're still one
of my favorite types of photos). Later on I took primarily color
slides and seldom dealt with printing photos. As the digital
age came in, I started dabbling with electronic pictures and
computer "darkroom" processing. (Lazy mans way to do
photography-beats the heck out of mixing, storing, and staining
your fingers brown with chemicals because you can't find your
photo tongs)
My primary interest is nature photography and my favorite shooting
area is coastal Georgia. I grew up in Savannah and, while I've
had opportunity to travel in the US, Middle East and Asia, the
saltwater creeks, marshes, and coastal islands are still my favorite
landscapes.
I am now retired from a career in Geology during which I worked
for the Georgia Dept of Mines, many years with a consulting company,
had my own consulting co. for a while, and worked at the Savannah
River Site. Current hobbies are photography, boating and general
outdoor stuff. I hold a USCG Captains license and occasionally
provide charters for small groups to visit several of the uninhabited
Georgia barrier islands. This provides great photo ops for photographers.
